New Patients

Welcome to Summerlea Dental! This is what you can expect from your first appointment as a new patient.

First is the appointment booking. Because we have never seen you as a patient before therefore we have no history for you, this appointment will take longer than the regular check up and cleaning. Our new patient appointments on average are between 1.5hrs long. Please arrive for your appointment 10-15 minutes early to give yourself some time to fill out our new patient intake forms. (You can also request to fill these out online)

Once you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by one of our friendly receptionists. They will confirm and gather any additional information for your file including your insurance benefits if applicable. You will also be given some forms to fill out if you haven’t done so already. Make yourself comfortable and enjoy a coffee, tea or water.

The first part of your appointment will be with one of our Dental Assistants, who will go through your medical history as well as your dental history and go over any concerns, needs or desires you may have. We will then take appropriate x-rays and photos to add to your file.

Next, you will meet Dr. Jomha. He will go over your x-rays and photos with you and may request additional images including intra-oral photos. He will then complete your thorough dental exam and create a treatment plan with you.

Lastly, you will be greeted by one of our highly skilled Dental Hygienists for your cleaning. They will clean your teeth through a process known as “scaling” which is the removal of soft and hard plaque build up. At the end of your appointment your hygienist will discuss with you how often you should have your cleanings. This recommendation is based on the health of your teeth and gums.

Following your appointment, you will once again meet with our receptionists to process your insurance claim if applicable, and any pre-authorizations or referrals needed, as well as book your next appointments. You will also have the opportunity to ask them any questions you may have about the timeline, cost or coverage of your treatment plan.
